This August, take a step toward protecting what matters most.
August is National Make-A-Will Month, an annual reminder to complete one of life’s most important planning tasks: creating or updating your will. As Pi Phis, we know thoughtful leadership often means planning ahead. Taking time to put your wishes in writing is another way to care for the people and causes that matter most.
A will is valuable at any stage of life. It gives you the opportunity to document your wishes, care for loved ones, name guardians for children, make arrangements for pets and more.
Pi Beta Phi Foundation has partnered with FreeWill to offer a free, secure online estate planning tool. In about 20 minutes, you can create or update your will at no cost.
For many Pi Phis, creating or updating a will is also an opportunity to make a lasting difference. By including a legacy gift to Pi Beta Phi Foundation in your estate plans, you can help ensure future generations of Pi Phis experience the lifelong friendship, leadership opportunities and support that define our sisterhood. A legacy gift is a simple way to extend your impact far beyond your lifetime.
Estate planning can be easy to put off. It may feel overwhelming, time-consuming or simply like something to tackle later in life. National Make-A-Will Month is the perfect time to take that first step—and Pi Phi can help make it a little easier.
Creating or updating your will can help you:
- Care for the people you love by documenting your wishes and naming guardians for children, if needed.
- Plan for the future by deciding how your assets and personal belongings should be distributed.
- Consider other important decisions such as healthcare directives, powers of attorney and beneficiary designations.
- Keep your plans current as your life changes through marriage, children, career changes, retirement and other major milestones.
Whether you’re beginning your career, raising a family, planning for retirement or simply checking an important task off your list, having an up-to-date will can give you greater confidence that the people and things you care about are provided for.
This National Make-A-Will Month, take a little time to plan for what matters most. And as you look ahead, consider how your plans can create a lasting legacy for the generations of Pi Phis to follow.
