It is with a heavy heart, Pi Beta Phi announces the closure of its Indiana Gamma Chapter at Butler University, effective May 11, 2027, following a vote by the chapter’s collegiate members to relinquish its charter. The decision follows several years of significant membership challenges despite ongoing recruitment and retention support from Pi Beta Phi volunteers and Headquarters staff.
“Closing a chapter is never easy, especially one that has been part of Pi Beta Phi for generations,” said Grand President Jenn Plagman-Galvin. “We are grateful to the collegiate members, alumnae, Advisors and volunteers who have invested so much care in Indiana Gamma. Our focus now is supporting our collegiate members through this transition and welcoming them into alumnae life, where their Pi Phi experience and connections will continue. Indiana Gamma will always be an important part of Pi Beta Phi’s story.”
The Indiana Gamma Chapter was founded in 1897, and more than 2,700 women have been initiated into Pi Beta Phi through the chapter.
