Our Roots
Pi Phi alumnae have a long history of connection in Washington, D.C. The Washington, D.C., Alumnae Club was established in 1893 and chartered in 1913. As the originator of the idea for the Pi Beta Phi Settlement School, the club took an active role in supporting the school and guiding its work, including hosting fundraisers for its benefit. The club also supported D.C. Alpha and helped furnish its chapter rooms, maintaining a close relationship with collegiate members. Years later, the Washington, D.C., Alumnae Club formed a young alumnae group that became today’s Nation’s Capital – District of Columbia Alumnae Club.
