Our Roots
The St. Louis, Missouri, Alumnae Club was established in 1910 by eight Pi Phis: Missouri Alphas Amanda Becker-Montague and Olive Williams Crosby, Missouri Betas Julia Griswold, Emma Bettis Small, Sarah Thomas Vaughan, Amy Starbuck Melville, Marguerite Frazer Lincoln and Virginia Harsh. Its 25 members gathered monthly and were active in supporting both Pi Phi and their local community. The club furnished a room in the new St. Louis YWCA building and contributed to the building fund for the Pi Beta Phi Settlement School’s teachers’ residence in Tennessee.Alumnae Club Leadership
