  • Convention 2017

Each biennium Pi Phis gather for a very important meeting: Pi Beta Phi convention. Convention serves as a time to conduct the formal business of the Fraternity as well as a time to celebrate milestones and educate our membership. However, 2017 is a monumental year for Pi Beta Phi, as we celebrate our 150-year milestone! You will not want to miss this special celebratory event, with surprises and festivities offered throughout! The 2017 Convention will take place in St. Louis, June 23–27, 2017, at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at the Arch.

Some attendees will have been members for less than a year, and some attendees will have worn the golden arrow for more than 75 years! No matter how long you’ve been a Pi Phi, no matter your role in the Fraternity, you’re invited — in fact encouraged — to attend what is sure to be a once in a lifetime experience.

As set forth in the Pi Beta Phi Constitution and Statutes (Article II), convention functions as the legislative body of the Fraternity. During convention, members of Grand Council and Directors are elected and important Fraternity legislation is considered. Each chapter and alumnae club in good standing is eligible to send one official voting delegate to convention to join Grand Council, Directors, Regional Specialists and Seated Delegates as the voting body of convention.

There is simply no Pi Beta Phi celebration like convention. It is rumored once you attend a Pi Beta Phi convention, your love for Pi Phi will grow even more. Convention kicks off with a celebration of the local flair and flavor of the host city during Opening Dinner and convention closes with the final and most special recognitions at the Wine Carnation Banquet.

Throughout convention, a number of awards are offered by the Fraternity, the Foundation and the Fraternity Housing Corporation (FHC) including collegiate, alumnae and individual awards.

During meals and general sessions, the Fraternity will recognize Silver, Golden and Diamond Arrow members, legacies and past award winners. Dinner by Chapter is a special time to celebrate your own chapter and its accomplishments.

Perhaps the most meaningful of all the convention celebrations is the model initiation where the Fraternity is honored to bring several special women into the membership through the Fraternity’s alumnae initiate program. Learn more about Pi Beta Phi’s alumnae initiate program on the Fraternity’s website.

Thanks to the generous financial support provided by Pi Beta Phi Foundation, the convention agenda is rounded out with opportunities for attendees to engage in outstanding educational programming. Educational programs seek to offer best practices for chapter and alumnae club operations, develop attendees’ leadership skills and provide professional development opportunities. Through a series of nationally recognized general session speakers and educational programs, convention is a perfect time for you or members of your chapter/alumnae club to familiarize themselves with current and relevant educational resources.
