Meet The 2022-2023 Leadership Development Consultants

Pi Beta Phi is excited to introduce the seven members serving as our 2022-2023 Leadership Development Consultants (LDCs). We can’t wait to see all they accomplish as they work with our chapters, inspire new connections and—most importantly—empower our sisterhood!

Brittany Welter, Montana Alpha

Traveling Leadership Development Consultant

One individual standing outdoorsWhy did you want to become an LDC?
I was inspired by all the LDCs I met as a collegian. Each one shared advice that applied to Pi Phi and to life in general.  They provided insight to not only how much they enjoy the LDC program, but how many life lessons and unforgettable experiences they had.

What do you want to accomplish this year as an LDC?
I really want to make meaningful connections with collegians, alumnae, advisors and anyone else I will have the pleasure to get to know while on the road this year.

What’s your favorite Pi Phi memory?
Playing sardines in the chapter house during Initiation weekend my senior year!

Caroline Ayers, Tennessee Gamma

Resident Leadership Development Consultant
Connecticut Gamma at Quinnipiac University

One individual standing outdoorsIs there a member of Pi Beta Phi who inspires you? Why? My mom! I grew up watching her live out our values through her friendships, volunteer work and leadership. I can only hope to make an impact on the people in my life the way she has in hers!

Why did you want to become an LDC?
The LDC program is a perfect intersection of my love for Pi Phi and interest in industrial/organizational psychology; I loved the idea that giving back to a group that has given me so much could be a full-time job!

Most people don’t know, but...I have seen Taylor Swift in concert for every album she has toured.

Kate Walsh, California Epsilon

Traveling Leadership Development Consultant

One individual standing outdoorsWhat do you want to accomplish this year as an LDC?
As a traveling LDC, I hope to inspire confidence within each Chapter Leadership Team I collaborate with.

Why did you want to become an LDC?
I have a passion and specific interest in helping others navigate their mental health . I believe engaging in these discussions is vital on college campuses as mental health challenges are increasingly more common and oftentimes ignored. Collegehas ever-evolving transitions which can sometimes be difficult to manage. I became an LDC to make a direct impact on collegians’ experiences by supporting them through obstacles and recognizing the value they possess.

One food item I could never give up is...chicken caesar salads.

Katie Bodlak, Illinois Eta

Resident Leadership Development Consultant
Wisconsin Epsilon at the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay

My final recruitment at Illinois Eta! Looking at my chapter as we sang “Friends” was a great moment to reflect on my time as a collegian and see the future of the chapter.

Is there a member of Pi Beta Phi who inspires you? Why?
Megan Carey, who was the Chapter President when I joined Pi Phi. I was (and am) so inspired by her leadership. She is the person who made me want to join Executive Council and inspired me to apply to be an LDC!

Most people don’t know, but...I am a scenic carpenter! I worked in the scene shop for three years in college building sets and taught construction classes last summer.

Perry Harrington, South Carolina Alpha

Resident Leadership Development Consultant
Florida Eta at the University of Miami

One individual standing outdoorsWhy did you want to become an LDC?
My collegiate experience was not linear, but by advocating for myself and pouring myself into the chapter I grew into a woman I am proud to be. I recognized there was a greater opportunity for growth in the LDC program that allowed me to give back to the organization that has already done so much for me.

What do you want to accomplish this year as an LDC?
I want to help members discover opportunities within Pi Phi to establish a lifelong love for the Fraternity.

My favorite book is...The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

Tori Vasquez, California Epsilon

Senior Leadership Development Consultant

One individual standing outdoorsIs there a member of Pi Beta Phi who inspires you? Why?
Two Pi Phis who greatly inspire me are Montana Alpha Dorothy Ruoff and Arizona Gamma Stephanie Treanor who served as second-year LDCs during my first year on the team. Dorothy and Stephanie demonstrated Pi Phi values through each decision they made and every action they took. Both women greatly impacted my leadership style and helped mold me into the Pi Phi I am today!

What do you want to accomplish this year as an LDC?
My goals for this year include aiding in the growth of Pi Phi’s recent establishments  and instilling confidence in the chapter officers and LDCs I work with.

One food item I could never give up is...enchiladas!

Valora (Val) Hart, Indiana Delta

Traveling Leadership Development Consultant

One individual standing outdoorsWhy did you want to become an LDC?
I wanted to become an LDC because of the past consultants I had the opportunity to work with while I was a collegian. The LDCs were fantastic mentors to me and helped build my confidence and servant leadership skills.

Is there a member of Pi Beta Phi who inspires you? Why?
My Resident Leadership Development Consultant—Connecticut Gamma Sam Dyar. Sam was my first mentor in Pi Phi and helped build my excitement about the Fraternity. She carried herself with grace and knowledge, which impacted many members of Indiana Delta and the Fraternity.

What’s your favorite Pi Phi memory?
Living with my best friends at our chapter facility and playing too much Mario Kart after we finished our homework!
