Pi Beta Phi Chapter at Birmingham-Southern College to Close
It is with a heavy heart, Pi Beta Phi announces the closure of its Alabama Alpha Chapter at Birmingham-Southern College, effective May 31, 2024. Following the announcement that Birmingham-Southern College will be closing at the end of the Spring 2024 term, and without a college to call home, Alabama Alpha executed a relinquishment vote under the Pi Beta Phi Constitution and Statutes.
Pi Beta Phi volunteers and Headquarters staff have worked closely with Alabama Alpha Chapter officers and their Alumnae Advisors to provide support and assistance as they navigate this transition.
“In the face of change, our tradition and heritage as Pi Phis remain unwavering, uniting generations of women in a lifelong bond of friendship,” said Grand President Lisa Gamel Scott. “Throughout this difficult time, our Alabama Alpha collegians have carried themselves with Integrity, compassion and sisterhood. We welcome them into alumnae life and look forward to their continued commitment to living our values. Alabama Alpha will forever be an important part of Pi Beta Phi’s story.”
The Alabama Alpha Chapter was founded in 1927, and nearly 1,300 women have been initiated into Pi Beta Phi through the chapter.
