Your Guide to a Strong Scholarship Application
Applications for Pi Beta Phi scholarships are now open, offering you the chance to secure valuable support for your educational journey! Applying for a Pi Phi scholarship is easy with our online system, and you only need to complete ONE application to be considered for all scholarships in which you're eligible. To help you create a standout application and put your best foot forward, we’ve put together a few essential tips.
Highlight your achievements with specifics
When listing your Pi Phi experience, campus involvement and community service activities on your application, go beyond just titles—highlight specific accomplishments and leadership roles. Share measurable impacts, such as projects or teams you led and improvements you made, to demonstrate your commitment and contributions.
Explain your financial need honestly and thoroughly
This section may feel overwhelming, but transparency is key. Provide all the requested details about grants, scholarships, loans and your FAFSA information. By clearly communicating your financial need, you can help our reviewers understand how a scholarship from Pi Phi would make a difference in your educational pursuits.
Choose your references wisely
You’ll need two recommendations for your application: one from a Pi Phi alumna (we highly recommend using an Alumnae Advisory Committee member!) and one from a professor, faculty member or employer. Choose recommenders who know you well and can speak to your strengths and best qualities. Their insights should support your narrative and align with your Pi Phi values. We encourage you to proactively reach out to your intended recommenders ahead of time to ensure they’re willing and have time to complete your recommendation before the deadline.
Triple-check for consistency and polish
Review each section of your application for accuracy and consistency, from GPA to dates and contact information. Ensure you’re fully answering each question and providing the required details. Attention to detail shows professionalism and respect for the opportunity while also making your application easier to review.
Be authentically you
Let your unique personality and story come through in your responses. Whether it’s sharing what inspires you, your academic journey or career aspirations, highlighting your genuine self helps our reviewers see the real person behind the application and creates a lasting impression.
By following these tips, you’ll be well on your way to submitting a compelling application. Remember, Pi Phi scholarships are more than just financial support—they’re an investment in your future and a recognition of your hard work and dedication. So, take a deep breath, embrace the process and give it your best!
